Historic Hood River
Ring Out the Old Year, Ring in the New
12-29-2017

Notes
I do love these old newspaper engravings. Technology makes it much easier to produce graphics, so we don’t appreciate them nearly as much.
This is from The Hood River Glacier, and you should be able to guess the date.

Wow. The old is graciously leaving while watching the watch.
Interesting that the young is also carrying an hour glass.
I looked up Father Time and hour glass and it says he carries the hour glass to show time’s constant one way movement.
Great photo for this time of year. Is this like an AP circulated engraving or is the artist local?

Buzz…if you happen to read this today, we will be in Long Beach for a few days.

L.E….will be here thru Jan. 1. If you want to have lunch, tell me what day and your favorite restaurant. "Doogers" generally has decent seafood if you want to meet there. Just let me know.

i think the same artwork would have appeared in newspapers across the country. Should be easy to verify in the archives: https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/

I also found it in the Heppner and Condon newspapers.
