This family posed for a portrait with their Chevy in 1924, possibly along Eastside Road. Mom and Dad took turns with the camera; the next frame shows Mom with the kids. From the number of portraits we have which include the family car, I think by this era the automobile had clearly taken its place as both a status symbol and a member of the family.
I suspect that the “Hood River” placard on the radiator identifies this as an official car of either Hood River City or County. Can anyone confirm this? Or was this just the 1920’s equivalent of the “HR” oval bumper sticker?

Perhaps Mom and Dad had just purchased a new camera in town and can’t resist taking pictures all the way home.

This might be Winfred Ross Collie who had an orchard in Pine Grove off of Eastside Road. If it is the two children would be his son and daughter, Robert and Janet. He had been a dentist in Wisconsin, but gave that up and moved to H. R. to become an orchardist.
