Mail carrier #14, marked with an X, was A. I. Mason. According to this D. M. Coon bio he passed the Civil Service exam in 1893 and purchased his Pine Grove property in 1896, so this must be shortly before 1896. The reverse includes the last names of all of the workers. You can see where Mason got his signature mustache.

Good catch Thorn. Thought it looked familiar. I used to go to a dentist across the street, and the chair looked straight at the courthouse building. Lots of cleanings staring at that building.

Postal workers must have been good customers of mustache wax. During this era of time, barber shops would have posters with mustache styles. Also for sale were mustache cups, specially styled coffee cups that prevented the heat of the coffee from melting the wax on the mustache.
