Notes
This fifty year old picnic image made me wonder about the history of ice cream on a stick. It has a far more interesting history than I would have guessed. What I thought was a novelty at the time of this photo probably brought back childhood memories for the older folks at the table.

You’re right. Not a pudgy one among them. My guess is that ice cream was a pretty rare treat.

Yes, and that was long before there was such a thing as low fat and non fat ice cream – no "half n half, no margerine etc

Nary a plastic anything, bring your mug, silverware, even real table cloths. And the boy is in well pressed slacks, Peds lace up tennis shoes, shirt tucked in.
Is that a lawn or a river in the background?

The boy with the ice-cream resembles a young Danny Campbell, but I don’t recognize anyone of the adults in the picture.

I agree with you Bill. That does look like a young Danny Campbell. The bald headed man in the white shirt with food going into his mouth might be Leo Drake, but that isn’t his wife Stella beside him I don’t think.

Danny Campbell was the first name that came to mind. He would’ve been 10 or so that year? The kid also bears a resemblance to Lynn McClain.

Located on Cascade st.
We were there from 1952-1963. I have great memories of my childhood there. I need to search my kodachrome slides and find some to send in.
