You may remember two years ago we took a tour of A.I. Mason’s Liberty Home Orchard in Pine Grove through the wonderful album in the museum’s collection. It’s time to see some more of that album.
Here’s a fine view of apple picking time.

Even the dog helps pick! Huge tree, there’s actually a scaffold across two ladders thru the tree twelve or so feet high!

Quite a variety of ladders. What is most interesting to me is the variety of clothing and facial facial expressions. But the long skirts of the women continue to amaze me with the dirt collection and the washing,and ironing of 100% cotton.

Those old ladders don’t seem too heavily constructed. The wooden ladders of my youth were big and HEAVY. Especially cumbersome if one had to move them around on a hillside.
One thing I noticed is that this tree is not all that old. Very apparent that pruning was not the norm of the day.
