Historic Hood River
“Phoebe and I”

Notes
The “family cow” was once a part of rural life. This image of Lois Peirronet with her dairy cow Phoebe is from her time in Parkdale, circa 1912.
A friend tells me her grandmother described walking the family cow to Lost Lake for their summer vacation. I remember my grandmother who lived in a city served powdered milk.

The family cow could be as much of a family pet as the dog.
