Paris Fair Remodel

It seems like the Paris Fair has been remodeled almost every decade of its existence. Here’s the start of that trend when the simple, elegant 1906 facade was remodeled to an “art deco” phase. The double high front windows which were flush with the street made way for a slightly shorter, recessed entrance way.
You can compare the original facade with the facade from last winter here (though it may be hard to grab the slider bar if you’re viewing this in a small window). A few weeks ago the building got a new, more subtle color scheme.

I find the truck more interesting than the remodel. I can only assume that that was a company out of Portland. Can you visualize coming up the Old Columbia River Highway in that truck with all those glass panels. I would think it would have been somewhat of a challenge to say the least.
Wonder how long it took them to get from point A to point B?
The old street light is also a nice addition to the photo.

Agree on the truck Charlotte! And this is an early version of the Fuller Paint Company, started out with adhesives, and for some time included glass.

I have fond memories of the Paris Fair "cashier process", those spring loaded carriers zipping up on a wire to the central cashier at the upper level and then your change zipping back. and yes, that truck drive to/from Portland would have been slow…..in a car was bad enough….
