You may recognize this spot, as the E.L. Smith house is still at 6th and State Street. In fact, with the urban renewal project on State Street we even have a dirt road here for the first time in 100 years.
The Hood River Marching Band not only has to march up hill, they seem to be following the horses. One of the band members is Robert (Bert) Kent. They are being followed by some gentlemen from the GAR, circa 1910.
Our dirt roads should be covered with asphalt next week, but these folks had to wait five years or so for the dust and mud to subside.

Any idea where the parade will end? It is interesting that many of these parade photos took place on State St. and not Oak St.
