Here are Orva and Rowland Wiley on Second Street in Hood River in 1918. The “Hotel” sign is the corner of the Hotel Oregon, now the Lightwell Hotel and Spa. You can also make out the “Garage” sign projecting from the corner of the Hood River Garage, now the location of River Daze Restaurant. You can also see the water tower for the steam locomotives behind Rowland.
Any ID on the automobile? It seems pretty generic for the era.

Thank you for the “today” view. I would not have recognized the background as the Washington side of the River.

Today’s view brings back memories of Chinese food, and a huge Grizzly bear in the window of what is Pietros today.
Does anyone else remember Grizzly bear pizza at that location?
Rowland looks pretty proud of that Studebacker touring car.
Maybe generic but a good car back then.

The 1917 Hood River phone book lists the Wileys as residing at 1835 Cascade Avenue, with Rowland a chauffeur.
