Historic Hood River
Old Cabin
5-15-2025

Notes
This postcard shows a beautiful old cabin on the west side of the Hood River Valley, but provides no date or location details. There’s a clear enough view of the Hood River Mountain on the east side of the valley that we should be able to narrow down the area. Any guesses?

I think this cabin is located on the northeast slopes of what I think is Ehrck Hill–the hill just north of the Ehrck Hill Drive and Lingren Road intersection. If not there, then somewhere between Ehrck Hill and Wy’Eaast Vineyards. Besides the matching horizon ridges, the small forested hill center left and the triangular field directly above the trees next to the cabin are also identifiable. The small cluster of white buildings between those is approximately where Packers Orchards & Farm Place is today.

The hills in the middle of picture look like Lenz Butte on the left and Gilhouley on the right. Interesting that there are so many clear cuts on the eastern hills.
