Historic Hood River
Odell School Circa 1900

Notes
My first thought when I saw this image of the Odell School circa 1900 was that it was surrounded by water. On closer examination I think it’s actually ice. We all know what winter ice storms can look like in the Hood River valley.

and there was one storm in the early 1950s when our neighbor on Belmont was able to ice skate over the tops of our fence line…..that much snow covered by a thick sheet of ice.
one wonders what the photographer had on for boots to take this picture.

A lot of extra time put into making this architecturally interesting. Not sure the style. Location?

I agree Nels. someone(s) really took the extra effort to add some fine detail to this building; reflects some real community pride. This is one fine looking building.
