Historic Hood River
Odell, Circa ?

Notes
This aerial view of Odell is undated, but quite a bit has changed since this was captured. The Diamond Fruit packing house is in the center, with the downtown area in the upper left corner. That’s Chevron Drive running from the bottom center up the right side of the frame. Can any Odell residents suggest a date? Unfortunately none of the vehicles are clear enough to date.

Well, I know that DeHart’s Market burned down in the early 70’s, but not exactly sure about the date. I See Clem’s and the grocery store before the fire. We bought Mid Valley Market from the McNeel family who had bought it from Kenny DeHart. Then we bought Clem’s from Bud and Cindy Davis. I see the two white houses directly behind the store and we owned them also. My cousin Vicky Merz Reed and her husband owned the trailer court on AGA Rd and this picture is before the trailer court went in. I can ask her if she knows the year that the trailer court was built.

This shows the Diamond Central plant as it was first constructed, with only the packing house and loading dock/cold storage for packed boxes, before any of the additional cold storages were added on. The driveway to the Odell plant and the bin storage lot on the south side have also not been constructed. I suspect this was taken only a year or two after Diamond Central was opened in the 1970’s.
