Historic Hood River
Odell, Circa 1920

Notes
We saw this Reeves postcard of Odell a while ago, but I have rescanned it at a higher resolution and cropped it so you can see some detail of downtown Odell circa 1920.
I think I got the streetview right this time. The hotel building in the foreground is now an apartment building. The building to its north is now a church. I can’t tell if any other buildings remain from this era.
Check out that sapling just beyond the hotel, behind the parked automobile. It’s now a big tree.

Yes, the hotel is now apartments. Remember last year there was a fire and they are in the process of remodeling. If I recall, the little building past the church in the early 1950's was the post office. Next to that where it says Chapman store, was a small variety owned by the Hill family. Then I think just past that would have been Clem's.

My first thought when I opened the photo was, “Boy, I can see how a fire would sweep through a town!”
Neat photo. Love all the cars and working truck.

A mile of concrete road was being laid in Odell in late 1920. This does not appear to be a concrete road yet.
