This class picture of the Oak Grove students circa 1928 came to us from the estate of the teacher, Mary Campbell Hedell. Fortunately she took the time to identify as many of the children as she could.

I would have recognized Mits even without his signature cigar! He hadn’t changed much over the years.
Tom, Joe and Nobi too. They all were great men.

Hello, yes, that is Mitsuge Tamiyasu. I’m his daughter Ramona Tamiyasu. My brothers and sister and I also attended Oak Grove School! Old times!

Looking through the names again, I can see someone, who is not familiar with Hood River’s Finn and Japanese history, being confused by the name Jim Hukari, and seeing a tow headed boy.
