Historic Hood River
O.M. Pope Cabinet Card
7-13-2021

Notes
We know O. M. Pope came to Hood River periodically in the 1890s to shoot studio images for affluent local families. This fine cabinet card is in our “J.W. Hinrich” family folder, but the subjects are not labeled. I always enjoy the creative backdrops and props used in photo studios of this era. I suppose we have Instagram filters now for a similar effect.

Yes, we have seen several images with similar backgrounds taken in the Pope studios around this same time frame. I recognized it immediately before scrolling down to see the Pope label at bottom. I have no idea who the two boys are. They are too young to be John W. Hinrich's two sons, Copley and Walter, born in 1870 and 1875 respectively. If they are family, they are more likely to be two of Peter D. Hinrich's sons, Max and Ralph, both born in Hood River in1882 and 1883 respectively.

@kmb….isn't fun to open HHR in the morning and see if you recognize anything in the photo, before reading Arthur's notes?
I am not sure what kind of stick the boy is holding and I wonder if he even knows.
