Historic Hood River
“No 19 Stage at White Salmon Washington”
6-13-2024

Notes
This nice postcard of Jewett Street in White Salmon was loaned to us by Steve Curley. We saw this view a couple of years later in this post.
The stagecoach is in front of the real estate and insurance offices of the White Salmon Land Company. Both of these buildings survive.

Do you have any photos of the original Parkdale Community Church on Woodworth, in Parkdale?
Arthur Babitz
Marny, the answer is “maybe”. We have 127 church images including several unidentified ones which might be the Parkdale Community Church, but I would need more info on that building to be sure.

Hi Arthur,
Eileen Garvin suggested I contact you with my question: From the 1950s through sometime in the 1980s, my father leased most of the space that is now The Ruins. He used part of the upstairs for his business office (Russ Guppy Distributors) and all the lower level for two industrial sized freezers for ice cream and other frozen food.
I am looking for photos taken during that period of the outside and/or inside. My daughter is getting married in White Salmon in two weeks, and I’m trying to put together a little tour of The Ruins for family members who remember Dad’s warehouse. I talked with one of The Ruins’ managers, who had never heard anything about this part of the building’s history — so I would like to share photos with current managers as well as my family.
Please do let me know if you have any photos available and, if so, how I can access them. Eileen thought you were my best bet as a photo source.
Thanks!
