Notes

It looks like Olga Plog’s party passed through Bend on August 15, 1924 on their way to their evening campground. She didn’t take any photos, but she glued this postcard and another one of the Three Sisters in her album.

The “Brook Scanlin Mill” in this photo has now been redeveloped into the “Old Mill District.”

Wonder why Olga didn’t take any photos of Madras or Bend? In the 1920s Madras barely had 300 people, and Bend was roughly the size of Hood River.

So that pond in the foreground might be the present Mirror Pond in downtown Bend?

Can anybody explain the silos and tall smoke stacks?

    That is not Mirror Pond.

The silos are probably sawdust burners.
