Notes
Ole Nelson is delivering the US mail at the Moore house in this real photo postcard, circa 1914. His sleigh says “US Mail” and is pulled by two horses.
This account of local news from Odell tells about Ole Nelson mounting his mail wagon on runner. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is the actual date of this image.

Jeffrey Bryant
Ole Nelson was born in Sweden in 1871 or 1872. He came to America in 1891. In 1903 he married Annie Sarah Bond in Norman County, Minnesota. In 1904 the Bond & Nelson families moved to Hood River. He was a mail carrier. Annie died in 1918. In 1936 he married Hazel Beck. Ole died in 1941 and is buried in Idlewilde cemetery.
