Now that mud season has finally arrived it’s worth a reminder that at least we have paved roads. We saw another view of this scene a while back, but this is a fun one too.
The tag on that truck seems to say 1927.

The joy of motoring, my horse was slowed a bit by mud but I did not have to dismount and put on chains.

I remember reading somewhere that 1927 or thereabout was when new car and truck sales first exceeded that of carriages and wagons.

I wonder what what so necessary about this cargo, that it had to be transported no matter what the road conditions.
Is it spring time when the frost has gone out of the ground? Now they put up road restrictions to heavy traffic when the frost goes out, to prevent damage to the roads.
