Can anyone identify the location of this shelter on Mt. Hood? It looks like Alva Day and friends are using it as base camp for a hunting trip on Mt. Hood. The man in the foreground is smoking a corncob pipe and has a camera or binoculars over his shoulder.

Very cool picture. Do we know the year? My mind imagines the amount of wildlife present then. And I wonder if that’s a clear cut or some other reason for the dead forest.

I wonder if this could be the “Cooper Spur Warming Shelter” (which is not the same as the prominent stone shelter that’s above treeline on Cooper Spur). It seems the “Warming Shelter” is/was somewhere along the lower part of the Tilly Jane ski trail

Nope, this shelter is due north of Mt. Hood. Lawrence lake somewhere?

I believe its the same ridge that cloud cap is on but lower

I see Cooper Spur on the left and Barrett Spur on the right, and that angle tracks with the location of the Warming Shelter in Township 2 North, Range 10 East, Section 6

Definitely not the “Cooper Spur Warming Shelter” which was built by the CCC, and has the Cascadian architecture with rocks.
Noticed the super long shakes (or shingles) on this roof. They don’t make them like that anymore.
