Historic Hood River
Misssionary Alliance Church
5-31-2016

Notes
According to the notes the Missionary Alliance church was on May Street, just east 8th. At some point after this picture was taken it was either renovated or replaced by a larger facility, which was subsequently modified into a residence.

It also spent time as an Oddfellows Hall.

Grew up near there, it was a church until the 70’s if I remember right, then an Art Center, then into a residence, believe the bones of the church were left during the remodels.

We used to attend the Christian and Missionary Alliance church there in the 60’s when we lived just up the street.

I used to attend Sunday school there, as a very young girl, as it was right across the street from my house… Also attended daily vacation Bible school every summer…. Fond Memories!
Barbara Parsons
I enjoyed vacation Bible school there for several summers under the Reverend Scrimgeour (-sp).

My dad pastored this church 1963ish for 3 years. I have fond memories of Hood River. Walking to the swimming pole every summer. The huge lilac bush outside the parsonage. The yard between the church and the parsonage where we built snow forts in the winter.

We attended this church for 10 years, my husband played in the worship team and I was involved in the college missionary group, and helped in what’s I could.
We were not members but we tithed every month.
We were very active even when we worked overtime during the busy time.
We also went to retreats and Bible studies. We were thankful and living happy lives .
Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s decease, I was devastated and didn’t know what’s going to happen to me, with my job and how I was going to pay the bills. I know people in my Bible study prayed for me and other people included me in their prayers. I knew I couldn’t tithed I would pay whatever I could afford.
We left the church, they were going to teach us how to manage our money.
I didn’t get a phone call from hardly any one.
I was sad that the church family abandoned me

I’m sorry I wrote about my bad experiences with the church I also had very good times with the girls in the retreats and thankful for the friendship of my sisters in Christ we worship, laughed, shared our walk with the Lord, we did silly things, cried but we never argued. Oh goodness how I miss those days because now I’m old sick woman who has her days numbered and I lost my big sister in Christ,I’m 💔 and I’m lonely, I can’t speak clearly and I can barely be around my family,
Anyone who wants to pray for me to end my suffering in the Jesus name
I heard from a friend That God won’t make you suffer more than you can handle.
