Notes
Sometime around 1905 the Laraways picked up their life in apple country of Iowa and moved to apple country Oregon. They left this handsome home and moved to their home on Front Street in Hood River. W.F. Laraway left his jewelry and watch making business in downtown Glenwood to open a jewelry and watch making business on Oak Street. Does anyone know why they decided to make the move?
While you ponder that question, we can enjoy the extraordinary craftsmanship in this house.
And while I don’t usually link to commercial sites, it turns out this house still exists and we can see all sorts of interior detail at this realtor site!

So much detail carpentry work on that house.

Wonder if this wonderful house still stands in Glenwood Iowa.
I count 5 women and 6 kids so they needed a large house.
Amazing design and carpentry.

Beautiful!!
I often wonder why people left a comfortable life to come west where living and traveling was not as easy. I have to think it was harder on the women.

A resourceful reader has sent me a real estate link which shows not only that this house is still around, but we can see the detail of the interior. I’ve added the link to the "Notes" section for your viewing pleasure.

Thank you resourceful reader. That was fun. I am surprised at only 3 bedrooms. The woodwork is amazing.

That deserves to be a museum with that kind of finish detail. And someone with deep pockets. Looks like it has had interior wall damage. Has a cellar in picture #9. Needs another bathroom and insulation and new windows that would have to be specially designed. But what a grand old lady.

Could use some work, but only $185K? Try to find that in Portland, or even HR.
