Meet the Tooleys, Fred and Joy, with their daughter Carol Jean and youngest son Charles. We’ve actually known Joy for a while, though she was identified as Hattie Joy Mason when we last saw her as a three-year-old.
Fred and Joy apparently met at Oregon Agricultural College (now Oregon State University) thirty years earlier. Our collection includes a great image of them visiting in Fred’s dorm room in 1914.
Here’s hoping you and your family have a happy holiday season. Historic Hood River will be on break Monday, but we’ll return Tuesday.

Sadness in the family. Both sons passed away at a young age. Charles at 25 and Venard at age 20.
There is Tooley Lake on I84 near Rowena. Is that where the family lived?
