Historic Hood River
Memories

Notes
Grace selected this scrapbook page for today’s artifact:
This scrapbook, titled The School Girl’s Memory Book, belonged to Norma L. Young, who grew up at 610 Oak Street (now the Oak Street Hotel). Norma recorded her high school years in vivid detail before graduating from Hood River High School in the mid-1920s.
Her pages capture everything from candid images of friends and the latest fashions to a handwritten list of her classmates’ names, nicknames, and future aspirations. Her class members dreamed of becoming a grand opera singer, a bird of the air, and everything in between. While ambitions grow and shift over time, one can only hope they each lived rich and fulfilling lives.
Norma has previously been featured on Historic Hood River, she is pictured here in the July 4, 1913 Doll Buggy Parade.
