Historic Hood River
Meet Jim Blossom
11-22-2021

Notes
This intriguing image is just labeled “Jim Blossom.” I found a November 1901 article in The Hood River Glacier telling of a Jim Blossom convening a literary society meeting at the Mt. Hood school house.
This looks like a very elaborate portrait studio setup. The rustic background has plenty of perches for additional people to sit for a group portrait along with the spring blossoms. I’ll bet this fancy background enticed many folks to have their portrait captured. Unfortunately we don’t have the entire cabinet card so I don’t know whose studio this was.

The photo must predate 1916. Here is a biography of Mr. Blossom.

Thanks for digging that up. My favorite phrase: "a unique Hood River character." I feel like this image captures that sentiment.

It is a great photo and the backdrop is well crafted.
Thanks for introducing us to a man who saved his pennies to buy books.
