Notes
This view of Max Moore working the lines on Columbia Street in 1907 is all that much more precious because it came with the set of climbing spikes he is wearing. It also came with documents certifying his degree in electrical engineering from a correspondence school.
The man on the ground is identified as Hall Chambers.

Yes that is definitely "Grandpa" Moore up that pole.
Actually Chambers was Authnel Hall Chambers, who never married, but lived in Hood River with his parents, Joseph and Otha. He at one point in time was the meter reader for the power company. He had served in the military during WWI.

A sawed square wood pole, possibly untreated. All I had seen previously were round treated poles.

At first I thought Chambers was holding a safety rope, but it doesn’t look like it would save anyone, so it must be electric wire being fed from a vehicle in the street?
Maybe even a horse and wagon.

The sidewalk and curb look newer- disturbed soils noted- The tree at the base of the pole ( cherry ? ) is leafed out – yet what appears to be an elm tree in front of the home is not.
I spy an insulator is on the ground at the base of the pole- so perhaps Max is taking down the upper cross bar ?
Perhaps those are early season pea’s or beans sprouting up in the garden ….

In the HHR photo it looks like a solid and well built home.
The fence is in better repair.
The sidewalk……not so much, but considering it might be over 100 years old I guess it deserves a few cracks.
