Notes indicate this photo is from 1912, and shows the first PP&L service car. Max Moore is in the back, being driven by his boss Albert Hall. At first I thought this was in Portland, but that’s the Davidson Building in the background. Can we get an ID on the automobile?

First off, I notice the back tires are different from the front tires. I don’t know, but it almost looks like they have some sort of ridges or chains on them.
Always good to see a photo of Max Moore, whom I knew as "Grandpa Moore" growing up. He was a very quiet man and small in stature. He knew his electricity very well. Though he was very nice, "Grandma Moore’ was the more outgoing of the two and she certainly knew her history of the Hood River area.

It looks very similar to a "EMF" open touring car….around 1910 vintage.

Correction……The car is a "McLaughlin" made around +/- 1910 and most likely was called "Model 8". The car used a Buick engine and was built in Canada….McLaughlin eventually was acquired by General Motors and became GM of Canada.

A. S. Hall, from the Willamette valley came last week to take charge of the business of Hood River Electric Light, Power & Water Co. J. Carrington, of Portland, has been here auditing the books of the company for the past week and it is understood that a deal is on to sell the plant to outside investors.
