I see a car over there covered with a tarp. My guess is that someone was using it as their sleeping place.

Camping back then probably wasn’t a whole lot different then normal life at home. 🙂

Charlotte…My best guess about the car cover is to prevent pitch from messing up the paint and glass on the car.

Times were changing – a couple of the women are not wearing dresses.

Camping for me was no fun.. seemed like everyone else took off on hikes etc. while the women cooked & did dishes just like at home😉

I’ve done a lot of camping, over the years in some fairly primitive and rough conditions. I don’t like playing Lewis and Clark any more. Continental breakfast at Best Western, after a nice hot shower, is my cup of tea.
The two girls standing to the right of Alva Day look like his daughters Helen and Emma. His son Carroll was married the previous year.
Looks like smoke coming out of a stove pipe in the background.

I can see that the car covering could be just that, to keep the drip off. Always loved camping and believe me being of a Crag Rat family is was always just part of our life style…..

The photos we have seen of Mr. Fredricy were taken in the 1930’s, but in the July 2, 1914 HR Glacier are two comments about J.H. Fredricy. "J.H. Fredricy and W.L. Clark caught a nice lot of handsome trout between Sandy Flat and the Buskirk place Sunday."
"No fisherman is prouder this week than J.H. Fredricy. He declares that he did not fall in the river Sunday."
