During the 1880s, William Ashley Sunday was a popular outfielder in the National Baseball League. He played for several League teams.
Later, following his conversion to Christianity, Billy Sunday left his baseball career and became the most acclaimed, dynamic, and influential American evangelist of the early 20th century.
In 1909 Billy and his wife Nell bought an apple orchard in Hood River. They spent family vacation time there in a small rustic cabin that was located on the property.
Through his many connections to Hood River, the History Museum has Billy’s baseball shoes and a notebook of his sermons in its collection.
David King performed as Billy Sunday.
