And how could I not end this snowy Thomson Album week without sharing this image? It’s pretty clear who’s in charge here. I think the dog just told the man to stand still for the photograph.
If you look carefully you’ll see the Mt. Hood Hotel and the OR&N Co. Hood River rail depot in the background. This view is looking south on the road down to the steamer dock.

Wow! That is quite the photo.
I am getting a little tired of the snow, but this photo cheers me up. I wonder if they are waiting for someone they know to arrive on the steamer?

cg, where they are standing is probably buried by I-84 now. Back then there was a a pathway from the depot area down to the ferry dock at the edge of the marshy Hood River delta. We saw a similar view in the Davidson collection, with a girl and her horse:
