Here’s a “March Madness” themed Fun Friday post. This is probably from the winter of 1953 basketball match between the HRFD and the Crag Rats. This game provided the images for two previous posts: here and here.

I can definitely pick out many people in the Crag Rat side of the stands. Front row far right is George Howard Sheppard. Second row of the far right is Margie (Bryan) Gale, with the glasses on. Third row far right is Virginia Sheppard. Off her right shoulder and up is Daphne Hukari. Right behind the player in the dark t-shirt is Eino Annala. In the back row on the far right is Arne Udelius. I think the #11 is Tony Krevak. The Crag Rat player on your far left is Dick Duckwall.

Oh my goodness…………..Norma, Bill and Arlen. Help me out here. I think I see one Dick Jones himself. Zoom in on the shoulder of Dick Duckwall, player and see what you all think, those ears and the crew cut look VERY familiar to me…….

I think there are lots of classmates in there. On the left high up are Lynn McLain and Ronnie Holloway. Below them is Kaye Meligan.
On the lower right is Ed Vannet in the front row. Behind him it looks like JoAnn Edstron, Janet Bell, Mary Bartmess with Sharon Hammer and Barbara Bible behind them.
Come on Bill and Arlen. Can you name any more?

Yes, I see what you mean, as I can pick out some others there also. Naturally all the kids went to any sort of sports event that was going on.
No doubt some of their fathers were on the fireman team I would think….

Love it. Though not in this picture, my dad, Norm Hukari, was certainly playing for the Crag Rats in this game. His parents, Esther Lingren Hukari and W.T. Hukari, are in the top row, she below the "R" & he between the "T" and "S" of "RATS"…My mother, DeLores Hultman Hukari, is at the far right edge, second row from bottom, with her hand on her cheek. Directly below her is Bernie Wertgen; directly above her is MaryAnn Hanners. The Crag Rat on the bench to the far left with his chin on his hand looks like Bill Patttison.
