This photo from Arline Moore’s album contains a bit of information:
John Connell, 1895, his first game bird. Picture was taken by Winnifred Marsh who was the daughter of founder of the Pacific University where John attended school. This was on the old Bowman Ranch. This picture presented to the Historical Society by John himself.
John Connell would have been 10 in 1895.

Born in Vermont in 1884.
He served in World War I.
His wife was Grace Wilson,who was the sister of Flora Wilson, who was the assistant postmaster in Hood River for a great number of years. Flora boarded for a number of years at the home of my grandfather, as his wife (not my grandmother) were very good friends and Flora didn’t have anyone.

Rick, I was going to ask the same question. Looks a little flimsy for a bridge.

I would sure like to know what kind of game bird that is.

I think that’s a flume, perhaps for the Nicolai or Newby mill?
The bird looks like an owl or a hawk to me. Hopefully someone will know for sure.
