Thomas and
Della Coon

1854-1937 and 1854-1936

The Coons were early pioneer residents of Hood River. Thomas and Della were teachers and taught in several pioneer country schools in rural Oregon and Washington.

Della had a strong interest in the life stories of Hood River’s pioneers. She collected their life stories, and later those stories were compiled into a book titled, History of Hood River Pioneers.

Thomas was an active civic leader in Hood River and a farmer. He was known for developing the Clark Seedling Strawberry which became one of the first Hood River fruit crops introduced to the rest of the country.

Kathy Peldyak and Peter Tappert will perform as Mr. and Mrs. Coon.
