Notes
In 1906 Harry and Pansy Dewitt visited Inglis, Oregon. You’d be forgiven for not knowing where Inglis is located. I even had trouble finding it with Google, but it turns out it is an unincorporated community NW of Clatskanie, in Columbia County on the way to the coast. I would show you a modern view, but the Google streetview car hasn’t visited yet. Based on the Dewitt photos of their stay in this town it looks like there was a bit more happening there then than now.

On the old westbound Columbia River Highway, now Beaver Falls Road, where it turns from north to west toward Clatskanie. I think the store building remains.

Rails remain on this Beaver Creek trestle although rarely used and only to the big mill at Westport. They may still receive an occasional car of liquids west bound but the mill only ships out by truck.

According to Sept 28, 1905, Hood River Glacier entry, Harry and Pansy moved to Inglis right after their wedding, Sept. 1905, Harry held “a responsible position with the Oregon Lumber Company.” They moved back to HR at least by 1910 (according to US Census records) where they stayed until death. I portrayed Pansy DeWitt in the Museum’s TiimeWinder Tales in 2024 and learned this bit.
