Necessity, they say, is the mother of invention. Hood River has had many inventors working to improve the productivity of its orchards. This is the Ideal Fruit Washer manufactured by the Ideal Grader and Nursery Company of Hood River. I suspect there are still some of these operating at orchards around the valley.

The names August Bosse and John Guignard are associated with the Ideal Grader and Nursery Co. Were they also the inventors of this machine?

No, this was well before my time. Ideal Grader was I think there where P.P. and L has their office. I might be mistaken.

I thought Ideal Grader was where Central Sales was, now Platt electric.
