Historic Hood River
Ice Cold

Notes
A reader mentioned enjoying the refreshing leaks from the Powerdale flume penstock on hot summer days. I couldn’t find any images of that, but I think this one will help you think cool thoughts as the temperatures soar past 100. This is the flume along the east bank of the Hood River. You can see a house up on Prospect Point in the background for orientation. It was cold enough the refreshing leaks were freezing on contact creating ice sculptures.
This is a Jack Wilson image from a cold snap in 1950.
