Notes
Ruth Shafer shows us how to properly document a photo. Not only does she let us know who is in the photo, she identifies the waterfall and the footbridge. And on the reverses she wrote “Multnomah Falls.” At a later date she added “Oregon.” And note she provided all this information without scribbling in the field of the image. The only thing I can fault her for is not mentioning her last name.
Ruth Shafer was a young schoolteacher who lived in Odell 1920-21. Her granddaughter was kind enough to share her wonderfully documented photos with us. We’ll be seeing many more in coming months.

I guess this is an example of, we don’t want to write on photographs, but writing on them is better than not knowing anything about them.
Maybe, if you don’t know anything about Multnomah Falls, it is good idea to make a note of the bridge and the falls.

Pictures exist of the falls with no bridge and others with a log bridge that preceded the present concrete Benson bridge.

May I ask where is our historian par excellence Charlotte? Miss her comments.
