It’s been a while since we’ve had a good railroad image for Arlen and Roger. This is courtesy of the Alta Walter May album. Based on context in the album I believe it is a view from the Mitchell Point Tunnel, circa 1920.
Don’t the ice, snow and fog accentuate the romance of the steam locomotive? The passenger coaches were probably drafty, cold and damp, but I still would take the trip.

What an interesting photo!

Wow, what the photo lacks in resolution, in makes up for in bravery, including the photographer. Looking closer, I think we’re seeing the engines pilot plate and cowcatcher draped in two foot icicles, melting as fast as they grow. And zooming in the engine’s leading wheels, they look half-deep in the icy chunks lining the rails. Just crazy how the steam trains would thread through the frozen frigid gale winds like that.
