Historic Hood River
Horse and Buggy Remix

Notes
Here’s the answer to this week’s “Mystery Monday”: the original scan of the glass negative, without retouching.
Retouching a negative substitutes my interpretation for the actual historic artifact. It may hide a distraction which interferes with enjoyment of the image, but it is an alteration of the historic record. Our digital archives always preserve the unretouched, uncompressed scan. When I have some fun and modify an image beyond cropping or contrast/ color adjustment, I’ll let you know.

You did a wonderful job to fixing it….

Repairing the photo definitely made it more appealing.
Nice job.

Interesting how much a repair vs. nonrepair effects the pleasure of a picture. Thanks Arthur.
