This must have been the peak of the hat era. I can only imagine what happened when the wind kicked up a notch.
We know this is a Hood River Women’s Club outing in 1912-13. We don’t know the location or any of the members names.

Since we saw a similar image way back in 2011, I think I can recognize one of the ladies.

I think the lady in the center back, might be Pansy DeWitt.
I like this version better, because you can see more of the background. That is White Salmon’s Burdoin Mtn. in the back ground isn’t it?

It does appear to be the dock on the north side, perhaps at the bottom of Dock Grade?

It has the feeling of Bingen to me, but I couldn’t find any landmarks to be sure.
Thanks for finding the duplicate LE. It felt familiar, but turns out it’s from a different source. Post 251 was from a Davidson Collection negative, and for some reason I didn’t give it a keyword "hat". Post 1651 is from a period postcard. It looked like a "Davidson" image to me, and now we know it is.

Mrs. J.L. Hershner was part of the HR Women’s Club. The two ladies in photo #1075 might be part of this group.

Arthur, I well remember the 2011 photo, because there were some remarks at the HR weather site, about the appearance of the women. I remember laughing at the impression that these ladies, who were out for a fun day, did not make the men’s hearts beat faster.

All the women in fancy hats, except for the mother with babe in arms, a straw hat.

It seems like this was taken in 1912. I just got a feeling. I like that some of them are smiling, which I see rarely in photos of the 19 and 20th centuries
