Here’s a detail from the great glass negative of the Hood River Valley Horticultural Fair, circa 1900. I’ve digitally processed the photo a bit to bring out the shadows so we can peek inside the tent. We can see some of the fruit displays, which of course was the main reason for the fair.

One can only wonder at what the ladies on the right are discussing with their hands on their hips.

I wonder if it would have been improper for the men to not be wearing a hat?

People still dressed up during that era. Bowlers were really in weren’t they.
The gals were into a deep discussion about something or other.
