Historic Hood River
Hood River Timber
1-13-2022

Notes
This view of “Hood River Timber” is from an unattributed stereo card, though it is on the same card stock as other Frank Patterson cards. The ruts in the road offer some sense of scale. For reference a Model T track width is 56″.

Looks like clearing out a road through here would have been tough.
Born in 1883 in Klickitat , Washington, Frank Patterson began his photography career in the early 1900s in Hood River…… https://www.oldoregonphotos.com/photographers/frank-patterson.html

This image is beautiful. It's truly sad how many of these giants we have cut down.

A dream like fantasy photo. Thank you. Should be a postcard.

If you look closely there is a horse pulling a carriage coming towards us.
This is from a stereo view– I'll have to see what it looks like in the stereo viewer. I bet the depth adds to the dreamlike quality nels noted.

Patterson seems to have a knack for depth. At the link I posted there are more photos, some of Hood River such as this one. http://historichoodriver.com/index.php?showimage=1604

Did NOT initially see the horse coming our way……quite apparent why toll roads of the day charged more for the narrow wheels……and now we complain about studded tires…….
