Historic Hood River
Hood River News Office
3-25-2021

Notes
I’ve used this one in several talks but apparently never posted it on this site. This was an early office for the Hood River News. This building was constructed in 1908. I think the Hood River News started in the E.R. Bradley print shop on Oak, then moved here, then up Oak to the site of Dog River Coffee, then to the old Safeway building on State Street, then down to the DMV building at the Port where is became the Columbia Gorge News. Now this spot is home to Cathy’s Barber Shop.

Never knew the HR News had once been
in the Franz Hardware building.

Any names?
I see Arthur D. Moe was publisher in 1908.

We have two photos of AD Moe, but I don’t see a resemblance to these folks. You can see Moe here: https://www.hoodriverhistorymuseum.org?showimage=284

Does that mean they were hauling that big, heavy, clunky printing press around town as they moved from place to place?
