I think some wintery photos are in order before winter is all over.
Heavy snows in 1958 collapsed this Hood River Frozen Foods facility. I thought a sloped roof like this would shed snow. I guess not enough.
What do you think is the animal on the company sign?

As I recall that was a bad winter and think quite a few buildings went down. Trying to get a fix on where this was.
Possibly this foundation or really lack of one came into play.

I’d say a polar bear.
I wondered if a Quonset hut would be left over from WWII days, but it looks older than that.

Looks like it must have been a miserable winter. Cold enough to freeze the river, enough heavy wet snow at some point to collapse buildings, and enough east wind to cause drifting.

Was this possibly Russ Guppy’s business? I think he had a frozen food distribution business.

Since the sign is for frozen foods, I would guess a polar bear also. When I came to town, Russ had his sign & "things" on Industrial Ave.

You know you are probably quite right. If my eyes see things correctly, that might be the frozen Columbia behind the hut with the Washington hills in the back. That was the bad winter that my husband and Tom Barney went on their escapade of walking across to Bingen.
