Notes

I date this Reeves view of Hood River to the mid-1920s. It includes the 1924 Butler Bank Building, and also the Fashion Garage which burned in 1929. I’m not sure what to make of the handwritten copyright covering another note.

Reeves must have had a telephoto lens to make Mt. Hood appear so prominent over the city. You can see one of the side effects of an early telephoto lenses in the curving of the Union Building at the bottom of the frame.

I don't know, but I thought that this might be a spring photo. There are two patches, one on the right and one on the left that I thought might be orchards in bloom out there in the valley. But then, when looking at the snow on Mt. Hood, decided it had to be a little later in the year, as there should/would have been more snow on the mountain in blossom time.

If you look at the right middle of the photo you can see where The Heights is starting to develop.

Is he on the White Salmon Bluff or Strawberry Mtn?
