Historic Hood River
“Home of Benjamin B and Carmen Lucille Powell”

Notes
We have all sorts of information about this one… except for where it is.
E. Dawn Polson prepared this caption:
Home of Benjamin B. and Carmen Lucille Powell, Owners of BB Powell Plumbing. The came to HR in 1906. Both were avid outdoors people- they climbed to the top of Mt. Hood 3 times and once circled the bottom of the mountain. They were long time members of the IOOF (75 years) andf Rebeccas. Mrs. Powell did beautiful crocheting and tatting. They didn’t have any children but raised a boy named Julius La France. Julius taught Mrs. Powell French and she taught him bookkeeping. I don;t know when the house was built, but Mr. Powell built the coal furnace that was in there during the 1950s.
Any clues as to where it might be? The landscaping is impressive. Note the fountain feature in the foreground.

The 1950 census for the Frankton area of Hood River indicates the following for the Powells: Rand Road, 150 feet on left (1). Footnote (1): .9 mile on US Highway 30 from Frankton Road intersection, Ruth right on Rand Road.

At 100 feet on the right side of Rand Road was the Moyne Roger’s home. It may still be there based on what I can see using Google Earth.
