Spring of 1931 was a rough one for infrastructure along the Hood River. On April 1 Alva Day toured the hydro facilities. He shot this view of the dam at the Dee Mill late in the afternoon, after shooting many other images of the efforts to remove logs from the works at Powerdale. Some images from later in the month show forests tangled with snags and logs, suggesting an event like the glacial outburst we saw in November 2006.
The Dee dam is no longer in operation, but you can see its remains from the bridge across the Hood River just downstream.

A concrete dam, replacing an old wooden structure, was being built at the Dee mill in 1924.
