This image is part of our collection of material related to August Guignard and Fritz Rosiger’s Ideal Fruit Grader, which was manufactured in Hood River under several versions of the “Ideal” name. Between all the different versions of the “Ideal” name and all the different spellings of Rosiger’s surname, they make research difficult. We know they were manufacturing graders and washers from about 1918. This image seems a bit later. The reverse refers to “John Guignard”. John was August and Mary Guignard’s son, who appears to have followed in his father’s business. This history of the Westside Fire District mentions John Guignard’s donation of a spray tank in 1942. John would pass in 1943.
It’s hard to tell from the background whether this image was captured at their headquarters on Guignard Road or elsewhere.

Consolidated Freight ways truck 1604 on the door.
They started in Portland Oregon 1929. Appears to be a Fagoel brand truck before they started the Freightliner brand.
This probably means this load was being transported a great distance?
