Historic Hood River

This stereo card view comes from the James Waggener Jr. studios in Vancouver, WA. We’re not sure if it’s in Hood River, but it’s good proof when ice forms the skates come out.  Those hockey sticks look like they are homemade.

We know from this post ice skating on the Columbia was a popular winter pastime, with people coming from Portland by train to enjoy umbrella propelled skating excursions.  I still haven’t found a photograph, though, so I remain skeptical.
