Historic Hood River
Harley Riders, Circa 1913
2-14-2013

Notes
We have only a few leaves from the album of Lois Peironnet Cloud of Parkdale, but they give us a wonderful glimpse at life in Parkdale 100 years ago. Here we see Gabriel DuVal and Frances Evans riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle circa 1913.

Oooh, that has all the makings of a great film.
I notice Mr. DuVal is wearing a boutonniere. Is this a date or a marriage?
db
Frances does have a rather seductive smile there.

Clearly, love is in the air!

Funny thing is when I queued this up several weeks ago I didn’t even realize it would fall on Valentine’s Day.

Well, I was kind of waiting for Charlott to chime in with some knowledge about this photo.
Especially about the photographer Lois Adams Peironnet Coud.
Not a lot of information out there. Especially about the illusive Mr. Gabriel DuVal.
Might not be as romantic as we thought. In 1910, Frances M. Evans is 26 years old, a single school teacher and living with her parents, Henry and Joanna (Mohr) Evans, on Strawberry Road.
In 1920 she is 36 years old, living in Portland on Washington St. and is a teacher in the public schools.
In 1924 Frances Marian Evans marries Lawrence E. Swan. In 1930 they are living in Portland where Frances is a school teacher and Lawrence is a railroad engineer. That is the last I could find.

I raced them and I beat them with my Yamaha.

Does any one know whereabouts of Lois Peironnet Cloud relatives?
I think we could be related.
